Seth Veinot Athletic Memorial Award

Seth Veinot was a student in our school from primary to grade four, who is remembered for his artistic talent, sportsmanship and genuine love for living. Even when Seth was diagnosed with diabetes, he showed us all through his determination and will, that he was in control of his diabetes, his diabetes was never in control of him. It would never stop him from striving to do his personal best, in not only sports but in anything he put his mind to. During the marking and grading days of his grade four year, on June 20, 1994 his life tragically ended, unexpectedly. The actual cause has never been determined, but his memory will live on through the Seth Veinot Athletic Memorial Award.

The Seth Veinot Athletic Memorial Award is presented annually to a male and a female from the upper elementary students that contribute most to the Annapolis East Athletic Program.

In order to be nominated for the award, students must display exceptional qualities with respect to leadership, dedication, responsibility and good sportsmanship. They must value sports to be fun, enjoyable, and a challenge, as well as a very rewarding experience.

Receiving an award of any kind is a very special honor, but when the award is in memory of a special someone, for unique attributes and characteristics, then the award has a very special meaning. This award gives us all the opportunity to keep Seth's memory alive and remember him for his unique personality, character, and style, but most importantly his total admiration for all sports, his love for outdoors and people.
