David Diggins was the first Principal of Annapolis East Elementary School, serving as this school's administrator for nine years from its opening year of 1987 until he retired in 1995.
David worked in elementary schools as teaching administrator for the 22 years before coming to Annapolis East. David Diggins is remembered for his keen interest and enjoyment for school with a particular passion for mathematics.
In recognition and acknowledgement of his teaching contributions, the David E. Diggins Math Award is offered to a grade six student who demonstrates high interest and achievement in Mathematics. June 1997 marks the first presentation of this award and it shall be presented to a student who has exhibited this same keenness and love with equally high achievement throughout their elementary school years.
